Evan Berglund, Chief Executive Officer

Evan Berglund brings a wealth of experience in market communications and information technology to his current position as CEO of EduCel, LLC. An accomplished entrepreneur, Evan’s award-winning career includes having been the head of three different advertising agencies, where he managed work for a wide range of corporations, including Nutana Health Food, Kenwood, and the Upjohn Company.

Since founding EduCel in 1999, Evan and his team have developed a number of widely used web and mobile applications, as well as other services related to business efficiency and effectiveness. Over the company's years in operation, EduCel services have been recommended by CBS News, BusinessWeek, Computerworld, PC World, and The Boston Globe, among numerous other media outlets.

Berglund is also known for coining one of the most commonly used definitions for best practices, currently taught at universities across the U.S. Evan Berglund lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he has resided for the last 20 years.

Maria Gonzalez, VP, Content Development

Gonzalez came to EduCel in 2005, after an extensive and varied career in biotech, which included scientific research, manufacturing processes and the building of business infrastructure. Her last job included setting up the foundation for a corporate university at Chiron Corporation (Novartis) in Emeryville. Her quality management expertise and science background, as a UC Berkeley graduate in molecular and cell biology, ensures a quality approach to content development at EduCel.

Maria’s extensive experience also includes seven years as an Institutional Review Board member, reviewing human clinical research studies for scientific validity and ethical considerations. In addition to managing researchers, writers and editors, Gonzalez also oversees several functions related to market communications for EduCel and its properties.

Akshay K. Deshpande, VP, Technology Development

Deshpande is an expert in both software technology and development methodology for Service Providers. He has over 20 years of industry experience as a technology leader, previously as Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at OnRamp Technologies, Inc., where he managed exponential growth by focusing on, and developing customer centric solutions. He was also responsible for managing network and systems to keep up with the growth. Deshpande's past experience at two of the premier software labs, AT&T Bell Labs and at T.J. Watson Research Center, provides the solid foundation for the software technologies and operational processes underlying EduCel’s provider business. Deshpande received his Ph.D. in Computer Science Engineering and MSIE (Operations Research) from the University of Texas at Arlington.
